Here’s the thing about islands.
From the inside, they look self-sufficient. From above, they’re the visible tip of something much larger, connected below the waterline to everything around them.
Organizations work the same way. The connections are already there. You just can’t see them from where you’re standing.
What stays below the waterline
The territory you operate in and rarely talk to.
The organisations next door, solving a complementary problem alone.
The opportunities you already have access to, but no structure to use.
None of this shows up in your numbers. All of it shows up in what you’re leaving on the table.
I read organizations as systems. Then I help redesign them.
01 — Read the structure. How it actually works, not how the org chart says it does. Relationships, decision flows, tension points, and the things nobody is using.
02 — Redesign the form. How decisions get made, where responsibility sits, and whether what you say you are matches what happens on a Tuesday afternoon.
03 — Build the connections. From island to node: intentional relationships with the system around you.
The simplest version
A gelato shop. Next door, a pizzeria. Same street, same evenings, same people walking past both doors. For years, the two owners never spoke.
The proposal took one conversation and a card: every pizza earns a gelato, every gelato earns a pizza.
Nothing new was built. No budget, no app, no strategy deck. The customers were already there, walking from one door to the other every night. Nobody had connected them.
Most organizations have their own form of pizzeria next door. It’s just harder to see.
What’s next door to you?
Sometimes it’s a pizzeria. More often it’s a supplier you only talk to about invoices, a client’s client, or a problem someone a few streets away is already solving alone.
How this starts
I take up to 4 projects a year, and every one begins with field research. Before suggesting anything, I need to see how your organisation actually works, not how it describes itself.
That’s why there’s no booking link here. The first step is a single question, answered by email: what’s next door to you? A few honest lines are worth more than a polished pitch.
If you don’t know the answer yet, say that. It’s an answer too.
If there’s something worth exploring, we’ll set up a first call. It’s free because nothing gets sold in it: I don’t offer solutions to systems I haven’t seen yet. It’s for us to meet and to get the goal right.
If it isn’t the right fit, I’ll tell you. That’s useful too.
